Maynard learned the Blues the hard way in the tough industrial town of Gary, Indiana. He has spent a lifetime immersing himself in the bitter-sweet sounds of Muddy Waters, Albert King, Lightning Hopkins, B.B. King, Buddy Guy, and a host of others too numerous to mention. Once Maynard warms to his work, he captures his audience’s rapt attention with an infectious blend of soulful vocals, punctuated with searing guitar licks.
For over 30 years, Maynard has enjoyed the odd paradox of playing to packed houses while remaining relatively obscure in Denver. He doesn’t seem to mind, however, as he says with a deep and down voice, “I feel very humble to carry on the tradition of these great musicians.”
His upbeat music has a contagious effect that gets even non-dancers up on their feet and onto the dance floor. Feeling good is the name of the game when it comes to the Maynard Mills Blues Band. Let’s take a look at Maynard’s current lineup of musicians.

TOMM QUINN
Drummer
Born in New York state, Tom Quinn started playing drums at age 13. Quinn has traveled with several bands and worked in Las Vegas. Playing many years with Sammy Mayfield, Quinn also has worked with James Van Buren, Eddie Kirkland, Dan Treanor, Frankie Lee, and Tommy Thomas. Quinn can be heard on the 2005 CD released by The Northern Blues Label “African Wind”. Quinn currently plays drums with The Maynard Mills Band.
LONNIE MOON
Tenor and alto sax, percussion, vocals.
Singer/Songwriter, Lonnie Moon is a self-taught Blues powerhouse with over 40 years of playing experience. He has played with such notable musicians as The Drifters, Little Willie John, and Bobby “Blue” Bland. When he’s not playing for Maynard, he plays for the Living Springs Church in Colorado Springs.

JODIE WOODWARD
Bass
Jodie Lyn Woodward starting playing the Bass instrument soon after her husband, Patrick Woodward, died in airplane accident while touring with Ricky Nelson. She learned the blues in New Orleans. She has opened up for Lazy Lester Sugar Blue and the Blues Brothers. Jodie then went on to play and record with Carrie Bell, Louisiana Red, Roger “Hurricane” Wilson, and Coco Robicheaux, Chicago Recording artist Zora Young, Delores Scott, Randy McAllister, Lazy Lester, Dan Treanor, Randall Dubis Band, Jack Hadley Band, Alan Knight & Company, Erik Boa and the Constrictors, Sammy Mayfield Band .
RALPH DeFERMO
Keyboard
Ralph’s a passionate Blues man, a living Barrel–house “Boogie Woogie” piano man. Ralph has opened for such greats as Papa John Creech, Commander Cody, Asleep at the Wheel, and John Hammond. Ralph was already an accomplished Rock & Roll piano player when he met George “Boogie Woogie” Daniels. George became Ralph’s mentor.
